This forum has helped me to start down this long road to rebuilding . . . the work, the cars, the rebuilds, all motivated me "to give it a try"
I won't try and list all the members that contributed to it . . . there are many . . . but I thank them for pushing me . . .
Don't know if I'll ever say "it's easy" . . . but I will be able to say that I did most of the work on my car myself ( and that means a lot to me )
When I'm done with this car . . . I'll be able to scratch the "build a great muscle car" off my bucket list . . .

Then I'll drive it like it's stolen and drive the tires off of it ( more that once - I hope )

Wire brushed the dirt off that 78' 440 motor home engine, I bought last year. Dissembled the upper end, and was pleasantly surprised to find no ring ridge on any cylinder walls. The guy I bought it off said it had only 24K on it. This considerably reduces the amount the rebuild will cost me, as I was counting on piston replacement. I'm going have her hot tanked, re-ringed and all the bearings replaced. The machine shop I deal with, suggested milling the heads down thirty thousands, and put in a mid cam. I'm building this engine just to have some fun with it. I'm going to take her to the strip a couple of times, but no reason for me to get into any serious racing. Any suggestions on a cam shaft ? I was checking several after market sources, and was surprised that stock camshafts are all the same grind, from the 361 to the 440 applications. I expected different for each CID. Later next week, I'll get oil pan and front cover and pump housing off.

Started wiring up my new sound system now that I've replaced my bulkhead connector, checked the wiring and finished the ammeter bypass. I currently have the stock AM radio hooked up to some speakers in the parcel shelf and I like the look of the A/M radio. Since I never use it, I decided to keep the radio in place but add a hidden bluetooth amplifier, new 6x9's for the parcel shelf, tweeters up front and a sub for the trunk.
My only concern is the stock alternator since I'm also installing Classic Auto Air A/C soon. It's a factory A/C car, but I'm not sure how well it will handle the new amp if I'm running A/C at the same time.....

Drove my '68 Bee from body shop to home, no rain,snow,salt on the road. Got rt.rear qtr. repaired from a 'slight' accident by my youngest before he got his license. No, he didn't offer to pay for the repair, but he did have to wait until 17yrs. old before he got his license.

AMD panels are fitting perfect so far. Trunk floor follows factory frame rails perfect.

Went by the body shop to check out the dash removal and talk about how the ac / heater box was going to come out so I can rebuild it, just can't stand it it the heater works fine but the ac is long gone but you know dam well if it doesn't get touched and refreshed now while its open it will fail a month later and I WILL BE KICKING MYSELF STUPID LMAO got to order up some new wiper pivot bushing gaskets, heater/ac box resto kit, fire wall insulation, kick panel insulation, new heater core, new under dash insulation and finally getting around to replacing the wrong ignition switch housing! that thing has been driving me nuts since I got the car dam 69 one off key housing! lol my body shop is going to fix and re paint my dash and steering column, they have few extra holes to fill so many after market guages screwed to the bottom lmao. all will be patched. going to let them design a custom gauge pod on the center console top kind of like th 67 hemi tach setup except it will be 3 pod small gauge one tch will sit seperate next to it. also got new dash vents, going to have the dash painted black to match the interior.

That's going to be nice when it's done. If you haven't done it already, with the dash out is a good time to refurb the brake and E-brake assemblies.

Finally starting the wagon conversion. Got rear wheels off, exhaust system off, all the brake -lines, cables, and u-bolts/shock plates off. Got the rear shocks off, Dana out, leaf-springs removed, drive-shaft out, drained the fuel tank, and removed most of the fuel lines. Tomorrow I'll try to finish removing everything from back bumper to the cowl. Then we'll start on removing the hemi and trans/front suspension, cooling system, a/c, etc.........

Cleaned up the front 2/3 of the underside. Gotta pull the back 1/3 of exhaust, to get to the rest of the underside. Also detailed the steering box a bit. See above pics to see what it looked like before. Not perfect....but pretty much buried by the elephant, anyways.

Looking excellent man. I always save pics of yours and a few others on here, as what to shoot for on the Express. Your keepin my dreams alive.

OK ..life has curve balls... bought a 67 Coronet and turned out to be, not what it suppose to be (some people suck)..snagged a set of buckets, console and shifter out of a 66 a few days later ...just redid the console, it was a mess, looks pretty good for a driver quality ..now got a console, buckets and no car to put them in... not selling these, just have to find another 66/67 ...(need pass. carpet piece if anyone has one)

Got a molded 67 coronet carpet ACC for sale, new. in original box, never installed. $100. Front full and rear seat floor, pre padded attached. Buckskin is the color # 830.

Well....I just spent an hour catching up on this thread with everyone's doings. All looking great and inspiring!! Keep at it! As for me....I went to my buddy Gary's house today and talked him out of a set of 11" front disc brake spindles, rotors, caliper's set up. $150 bucks. They are off of a 1976 Plymouth Volare, a state owned car.

Installed a new stereo system today. I went with a bluetooth amp for the 6x9's in the rear and tweeters up front. This feeds a signal to a mono block amp that runs the sub. The stereo is completely hidden (there's no head unit) and the controls will be mounted around the center console once I put it back in. The AM radio is still in the dash, but isn't wired to any speakers so it looks stock.

Replaced the dangerous rubber fuel line on my 318 with a nice piece from Classic Industries ...good investment of $20 IMO...
