Swapped gears.. Since putting the T56 in I've been trying different ratios out, this time it's 3:91s. A buddy let me borrow them so I could get a feel before I order the parts to rebuild my 489 sure grip. Pretty sure 3:55s are going back in but need to get my new tires first (they will be slightly taller). So what I've learned is these big blocks don't need low gears, they have the torque to get it done without all the shifting.

I got the rear end put back in and the drive shaft hooked back up yesterday. Still need to get the brake lines squared away and see if the emergency brake lines are going to work. Unfortunately I got to work in the yard today so I don’t know if I’ll get anything else done this weekend. I have to ask my brother to figure out the proportioning valve and maybe put in a line lock too.

Finally started to get paint on the street tuned 440 thats gonna switch out my 383->400. Witch hopefully has the powertorque that im looking for. Valvecovers and oilpan is only there to cover up for painting have others and gonna try keep the orginal look except for the airfilter. Soon i can start assembly the last parts on it and take it for bench and tune! The old engine is still in the car so its "funable" till the new one is ready to go! Going for black wheels this summer also so the cragar is going off duty for a while!

Started it for the first time since last fall, and ran it up and down the drive way for about an hour.

Installed a sunpro mech temp guage mate to the oil press guage I already had.

Factory gauge is sporadic and liked to show op temp halfway between dead cold and the first line.

Of course the sender line was WAY too short for where I had the mount (just to the right of the ash tray), so I had to move everything to under the heater controls.

I did get a purdy vintage Niehoff aluminum bracket.

I think I uncalibrated it trying to see if the sender lead would come out of the gauge.

After 40 min of driving it reads 140, and only went to 180 after I turned it off and checked it 5 min later.

Now to do something withe the excess oil sender line and move the lights...

Installed my drivers seat !....to get her out of the hoist bay, so that I could inspect the wife's plastic thing before listing it for sale! Bee moves nice, brakes work and no clutch / driveline shutter. Something it had before tear down.

Got the rear brake lines today. So I believe that the 489 rear end probably came from the car (maybe a Road Runner) that the 440 engine came from. If I remember correctly the D 440 on the engine pad means it's a 1968 and the 1 30 is the year month. So this would have been in a 68 (fixed, thanks dadsbee) vehicle. So I looked up the brake lines for the rear for a 68-69 Road Runner and the shape looked right and the length was close to what I needed so that's what I ordered. They fit with just a little tweaking since the rear was shortened an inch each side. After talking to my brother I decided I'm going to take the e-brake cables off too. The passenger side is way too long, it needs to be the same as the drivers side which looks to be correct. He had the nice SS cables so he put them on but now they'll come off. Hope to have time by this weekend to get them off.

D is a 1968 engine.. so it would have been made January 30th 1968! If it was made in '69 it would be an E440
