Finishing up the front bushing change outs. Had some bad rust/corrosion at the inner driver side K member frame bushing. Good friend boxes it and welded it up. Time for an alignment.
Next up: install ECP 26” 2 core aluminum Radiator.
Not so much 'do to' ...more like 'do for'... I finally got a chance to go to the local Speed Shop and get a hose made up for the NOS Mopar Oil Pressure gauge that Tom aka @moparsaver found for me nearly two years ago now. High pressure -3AN hose and fittings - this gauge has internal or external fitting - so the -3AN went so well I decided to go internal.
Looking forward to running this hose alongside the new wiring loom I'll be working on soon enough. Being a Sparky, the wiring was kinda rushed...too many other things to be working on at the same time. In the picture is a new gauge type sender unit.....that won't be needed now.
That's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it.
I won't show a picture of the invoice.....I didn't flinch when the guy told me how much.....just a small pucker.
My car is becoming a big shelf again.....even bigger now that the front fenders and hood are sitting on it finally. I'm trying to get the shop squared away so I can work on it hot and heavy when the triple digit temps go away. Came out to the shop an hour ago to check on the okra plants that are out behind the shop and the temp was 95....well, not too bad and then I felt a cool breeze and the next thing I see is 93. Been that way for about an hour now and figure a couple of beers would be good to celebrate that. High temp today was 102 which is a lot better than yesterday's 108! Anyways, cleaning some of the crap that landed on it recently.
Just got done 'body working' a back end of an oil pan to check the rear main seal of my 440 that's for the car. It was bad where someone really cranked down on the pan screws. Looks good now and even sits level and not rocking. Can't complain for free though! What I mean about the back end of an oil pan means that it was cut off of a trash pan and will be used to check the rear main seal with the engine sitting in the vertical position. Another member posted about doing that but can't remember off hand who it was....but who he is, is in my pea brain. I'm thinking it was DVR....
putting my sweetheart back together slowly from several boxes of parts. engine rebuilt mild cam edelbrock heads and air gap intake, running into missing parts order some then hit another wall. ujoint caps missing on back so replace. trans lines gone, in line tube. carter carb iffy with a sloppy butterfly shaft hole thats stripped, so new 650 double pumper on its way. Cranked for spark, noticed power steering box basically gushing fluid out of top seals with about 3 rotations, borgeman kit on the way. getting closer but the brick walls are killing me. owell someday will be firing this new engine, one step at a time. also scraped some of the trans fluid power steering fluid and oil mixed with some michigan dirt road( old owner lived about a 1/4 mile down one not too bad, probably saved the car)
. was careful and you can see the original purple hue and some remnants of the in-violet. pretty cool. left a film on everything still to keep her from rusting. damn nice underneath for a michigan car its whole life as of about 1980 anyways.
Fixed my knob. The A/C knobs to be precise.....when the guys installed back in 2011, I don't think they cranked the grub screws enough on the dash selector knobs, and over the past two years they have worked really loose. So the marathon effort to remove the evaporator down enough to access the switch plate happened last night. Got it sorted out.....and applied some thread locker to the screws. Took a while to remove and eventually replace the 3 fixing screws for the switch plate....but its done now.
Vacuumed out pieces of brass from fuel tank (dropped and cleaned tank last week) and installed tank. Need to get a stash of sender floats just in case.
Pulling hammer dents in this 1970 Challenger R/T hood. Mostly on the passenger's side. It's like someone got pissed and took a hammer to it. They filled in the DODGE letter holes and hood pin holes with brass brazing rod. I got the hood for free so it's worth trying to save. It had a 1/4" of filler in it which had cracked. A mess. I can't get all the dents out but I've probably removed 75% of them The driver' side looks very good.

Got my 4 speed out of it's hibernation area and up on a bench. Found the front bearing retaining ring to be loose and actually came off by hand so worked on that to get it right and then cleaned up the new old bearing retainer. Just need to buy a new gasket for the retainer instead of making one....
