What did you do today....other than work on your car!?

Still bustin it on the rental.

LOT of ripping on a 2x4 to get it to fit inside the metal stud, so we can anchor the anchor board for the door frame.

...and had to beat a storm.

Test fit this afternoon.

Today after work, I'll be mowing and then cleaning up the Passat. I hate a dirty car!

Finally got my place mowed last Friday but some areas are already needing it again! Got 3/4" of rain over the last couple of days and everything is loving it including people!

Kickin' back on some early Fall camping. Tree's are just starting to change, and the Oktoberfest brews are here !!!

Just this past week, we went from 97-100 degrees and 80 plus % humidity to 87-93 degrees and 60-70%.

Tire is maybe 300-400, rim 200. 2500 dollars each new...ouch, thankfully found used!
At least when they hold air..they roll.Lol

Some of my day today, was further dis assembling, cleaning, painting, a pair of A Body, Kelsey Hayes, 4 piston calipers, that a member over on the A bodies site, sent to me that were the cores, for the rebuilt pair that i sold to him.
He mentioned to me that he didn't wan't anything for them, but in turn i sent him payment for the postage, and extra, for him doing that with me.
I in turn, would like to give a big thank you to that person.
Lot's of very good people, out there in the Mopar world.

Mostly ran errands yesterday and stopped by the post office to pick up a Customs Dec form and then packed the parts that are about to go to Canada. Noticed the LF tire on my Belvedere getting pretty low so checked them all and aired them up. Also noticed the rear tires are pretty dry rotted. The date codes are well, can't decipher them but I know the rears are at least 30 years old! Michelins....and they were on a 'yard cart' trailer I made a lot of years ago so they were in the sun for years. Today is sheet changing day and washing them and my rags (clothes).

Got that dang twisted piece of door frame backer cut out and replaced.

Two tiny screws per side was all that was holding it to the bottom of the steel stud next to it.
Did I mention how much I HATE steel stud construction?

You can see how the warp started...and it got worse as it went down.
Ripped the drywall screws out, too. Pretty odd.

"Unconventional" repair to say the least, but sometimes you just gotta do what ya gotta do.
Drilled through the drywall with a 3/8" bit, then through the stud with a 1/8" bit and used 1 3/4" "particle board" screws to secure the scab/sister to the metal stud.
Then slid in the repair section and screwed that to the sister. Finally, secured the upper portion to the sister with countersunk 2 1/2" screws.

...and now the door will close.

Hung that door and the rest of the ones that got painted over the weekend.

I’ve had the past 3 days off, but of course it’s been raining. So, I’m siding when it’s not raining and mudding and taping when it is. Trying to get this room enclosed and heated by cold weather.

Now, I'm in the process of rebuilding a pair of BUDD, disc brake calipers, that were used on the 1966-69 "C" body line of cars.
Boy, those calipers, are hugh.

UPDATE.
I finished rebuilding them on 10-01-2023, and boy oh boy, was this as learning curve for me in putting them back together.
What a piss pore design those BUDD calipers are.
I rebuild lots of Kelsey Hayes, A body calipers, and a few Bendix calipers on the later 60's B body cars, but these Budd's were the first for me.
Come to find out i was using an inferior designed rebuild kit for the piston seal, that gave me nothing but grief.
Buying some correct kits from a member, over on the C bodies site, worked out great.

Today not doing a whole but yesterday, besides shooting some rattle can satin black on my 4 speed, I also moved 3 tires that are mounted out from under a work bench to a floor cabinet that have doors. Was going to put the 4 speed in the cabinet but the dolly that I have empty is too long to park it in there. Had to remove a narrow shelf that wasn't high enough for the tires first and found some parts that I forgot about. Now I'll bag the 4 speed, put it on the dolly and put it where the tires were.

Lots of interruptions today but we're up to 5 bush cords stacked and looks like 7 to go. Then into the bush to clean up countless cords from the tops of 300 trees that were harvested.
