What's up with fastfood prices?

The main reason that fast food prices are what they are, is that folks keep buying the product.

I try to avoid fast food at my age, but if I do get it, I like Arbys. You can hardly get any of the meals at Arbys for under $15. I’d buy the minimum wage adjustment but they’re all going to self serve kiosks. It’s profit driven and anywhere they can eliminate labor they will.
We have the meats!
(The official slogan of me getting new tires!)
Their stuff is pretty tasty, doesn't give me the "ugh gut" like some of the others.

Who's gonna pay the burger flipper a living wage so he can support his family of 8 ?

That's the whole problem. I'm not paying 8 bucks for a McDonald burger because I have to make sure that someone that made bad life choices can support a family flipping burgers. As stated before, just walk away. Actually, I question whether It's real food or not.

Bad life choices....

I say that when I see:
Adult men riding bicycles while wearing denim pants.
People buying $2.58 worth of gas for their car.
A person splitting a $20 purchase between cash and the debit card.
A dude driving a car with a different color front end that is also dented to ****.

You just need to shop the cheap meals, Wendy’s has a four for $4 meal that is great. If that doesn’t fill you up might want to rethink your eating habits

And nobody has noticed the Supermarket pricing? I have been getting sticker shock at the Cash Register... I wanted some sliced Roast beef for sandwiches.. $12 a pound.. NO thanks, you can choke on that....

Mary says that the reason for the variance is because fast food employees are NOT paid with tips while traditional restaurant wait staff is. Federal law allows "tipped employees" to be paid a reduced hourly rate to be made up with the anticipated tips.
Think about that for a moment.
At a sit down restaurant, the meal may be on par with a fast food place in terms of dollars but you are dipping into your wallet for a meal and a tip, adding to the overall cost.

I totally agree, but a tip jar at a Starbucks that already jacked me for 6 bucks for this coffee. Here's your tip for the day, get a better job. FU.

So you're the guy who buys $6 coffee? I was wondering. :)

My coffee from Starbucks is like $2, about the same as any restaurant, and no tip need.

In younger life, I ate quite a bit of fast food, usually while on the road doing my gig daily.
Over time, the quality of the stuff got worse and worse.
Now, I can't even tolerate most of it.

Thing is, I remember what the original quarter pounder tasted like - I was 14 and working
in a McDonalds at the time it came out. Damn thing was virtually a steak sandwich then....

I remember what Taco Bell tasted like when they still prepared the meat, beans and such
in the individual stores, back before Pepsico (Yum Foods) bought them.
KFC was much better 30 years ago, too. Heck, name any of them, they were ALL better quality
back when....but then, Yum bought them also. Same with Pizza Hut.

You know whose quality hasn't changed one bit since I was a kid?
Chick-Fil-A.
Not kidding, their stuff tastes and is prepared the exact same way as when I had my first one
back in 1974. Still family owned, still done right, still hires intelligent people who get your order
correct and take pride in their work.
What a concept....
