What's up with fastfood prices?

Speaking of Chicken. A friend has been smoking chicken thighs. Real meaty, only one bone to deal with and really cheap. A huge package is less than $10. I need to ask him how he fixes them. Rub or sauce or both.

Back in Chi-town there was or maybe still is a franchise known as Churches
They're still around they even have locations in Nevada, but they're all in Vegas, I doubt that you're jonesing bad enough to make that drive.

Up here we have Kwik-Trip, gas station grub but it's good. They have take home meals too that are great. If I go it's on Tuesday, they have "Mc Ribs" for 1$, Thursday is $2.59 Angus cheeseburgers.
I stop during work if I actually have time to eat.

I worked at Burger King in 1982-83. For a kid in school, it was pretty cool. Our parking lot was a magnet for cruising in the Summer. Cars of all kinds would fill the lot and it was a great social thing.
The work was fun for the time. It was my first payroll job with tax withholding and all of that.
Burgers were shipped in a cardboard box and kept frozen until they were ready. We broiled them throughout the day but they tried to minimize waste. There was a steamer where patties and buns were held until an order was placed. Once the buns got soggy, they were set in a special bin to be counted as waste.
Rarely was food made and left sitting. McDonalds did that. They would have time limits as set by the local Board of Health as to how long a burger can sit under a heat lamp.
The burgers were best fresh off of the grill. I used to order them that way long after I left that job.
Despite the jokes and rumors, I never saw nor committed any of the incidents you may have heard about....Spitting in the food, dropping patties on the floor or rubbing them against a person's private parts. It made for good stories but I never saw anyone doing it even being the pesky, prankster person that I have often been.
The worst that we did was put the smaller hamburger patties on a Whopper because we forgot to cook a larger Whopper patty. We'd serve seltzer water to a co-worker that ordered 7 UP. We'd put clear tape over the lid where the straw goes making it impossible to get a straw through. I would walk by a homophobic buddy and act like he tried to grab my ***. He'd defend himself but that would only make him look MORE guilty.

I have been Jone-sing for some decent Fried Chicken Back in Chi-town there was or maybe still is a franchise known as Churches .cr8crshr/Bill:usflag::usflag::usflag:

I'll spare the red X, but how quickly you forget what's around the corner!!! Killer yard bird!

As a general rule, I go local - as in mom and pops burger joint. We have some really good ones around here, all been around since the ‘50s: Miner’s; The Laredo (really cool neon sign); Stop and Go; Kings Row; and where I went today, the Peppermint Stick.

I got Big Dave’s Deluxe cheeseburger, fries, and a Pepsi for $14. I don’t eat out enough fast food to matter, cost wise. I figure I’m supporting local vs corporate.

When I travel, I like In-n-Out, and Chick-fil-A. And yes, it’s not cheap anymore.

In-n-Out burger is good and seems to be better quality then some of the others. The line is longer then DMV at the one here in town

BK used to be flame broiled, now they look like soy meal, best burger and price in our area is ‘Cook Out’ done just like on your grill. get the platter double burger, cook out style (all the fixings) order of fries a corn dog and big drink for $5.50.

It would be interesting to know the size difference of a Big Mac now vs 30 years ago. I bet local legend(?) Don Gorske knows.

If we go for fast food, we like to find God's chicken (Chick Fil A). Pretty consistent, but for me, the service is the hook. I'm a self described service Nazi. I don't even need to be wowed - I'll settle for adequate service, even. I drive my family nuts with my expectations at a restaurant. So hard to find even adequate service these days. Chick Fil A's drive thru operation is usually a marvel of efficiency. I can get through a Chick Fil A drive thru with 50 cars ahead of me faster than a Culver's drive thru with 5 cars ahead of me. When I see that smooth operation it makes me think that maybe all hope isn't lost in the world of customer service.

They hire INTELLIGENT workers!

So yesterday I hit the local Mexican food truck just to try something different, so I ordered the 3 taco meal. The tortillas were the size of a CD disc, I didn't know they made tortillas that small? Needless to say that at that size there wasn't a lot of meat, hardly any cheese, small wedge of mater, and a couple crumbs of lettuce, no sauce served either. The serving size of rice & refried beans were the size of a tablespoon, and a Pepsi cost a screamin $14.50. I won't be patronizing that place again anytime soon!
Because of this borked up inflation, it seems business's are having to price themselves out of business just to try and stay in business!
Today in the Trib, they're saying that last year inflation was 8.5%.
