What's up with fastfood prices?

Go to Five Guys for a burger, fries and a drink and you'll drop 20 bucks.
For a quick dinner I eat at the Black Bear Diner. It's cheaper and better than any fast food. If they have one near you, try it, you won't be disappointed.

I always thought that they were a west coast thing, until I just looked at where they're other locations are. I had no idea!

Food for 4 at Culvers on Sunday. $50+. Actually worth it though. $10 a head for good food isn't bad.

No locations east of the Mississippi.

Culver's is good, but cracker barrel is a better deal and they're everywhere. Last time I took my wife, here friend and 4 little kids to Culver's with ice cream it cost me almost 100 bucks.

I haven't gone to fast food place in years (like 15)

I did use to like Sonics & A&W (which is better)
great chocolate/chocolate-dipped cones too
not really fast food
mostly prepared after you order,
a carhop/usually a young lady in shorts on skates
bring it out fresh

but neither of these franchised are up here

I don't/won't ever do Taco Bell, McD's, BK

in my 20's & 30's
I used to visit a friend's Johnny "Hollywood" Rodriguez's
Togos franchise sandwiches place
they make it right in front of you, fresh

I can't stand Subway

Arby's used to be decent,
I had a sister & a younger bros that were mngrs
when young, beef & cheddars were OK

Jack in the Box, 'ultimate cheeseburger' was good
fries/curly fries OK/pretty, much of the rest sucked

Carls Jr's wasn't too bad, western Star was good, fries were good
they had decent burgers for 'fast-er food', had a salad bar too

Wendy's didn't use to be too bad,
you could get a salad bar or a frosty too
baked potato (pre-baked), Burgers made as you ordered
again it was probably 15+ years ago now

we have them up here
& I haven't been to any of them here
since prior to 2007

I don't/won't eat or even need fast food, now
I can cook for myself,
or just go into a store & buy good bread, cheese, lunchmeat, a liquid/drink etc.
have enough for the crew even
get some free lil' packages of mayo & mustard etc.
doesn't take but 5 min's longer
or
IF I'm not in a hurry
go & sit down to eat at some mom & pop cafe',
much better atmosphere & food...

I'd rather go without than eat some fast crappy food

Your body is a temple, treat it well, it will serve you well
you are an assemblage of the stuff you eat
we have so many damn people complaining about health **** today
many/most of them are the Starbucks & Taco Bell types too...
They wonder why (?) they get sick...

I ain't one of them...

Was watching Fox Business and a restaurateur was saying King Crab legs were off the menu because of price $75 a pound! Was in Costco 3 weeks ago $47 a pound. At Christmas we usually buy them, wife wouldn't pay $35 a pound.

Are we paying the McD's workers $15 an hour yet?

While I was in Buffalo NY I asked a waitress about minumium wages and she said its $15 now in NY but alcohol servers only make $8/hr.
I know an alcohol server or bartender that makes a hundred thousand a year, every year!! In my day, I made many of them a very good living. The tip was well over a hundred dollars twice a month.

And tips are generally cash.

The hair producing mole on the face of the waitress there did disappoint me.

My friend commercial fishes in the Fl Keys. He told me he gets $38/lb for jumbo Stone crab claws and 40 for the “colossal “. The fish house then sells them for $68-70/lb and people flock in to buy them. I guess there is plenty of money out there just waiting to be spent.
