Jeremey's Ivy Green Metallic 1970 Plymouth Satellite Sport 2 Door Hardtop

12-20-2013

I got the trunk open!
It's a good thing I lost weight recently. I ended up having to crawl all the way in through the rear deck brace opening (Behind the seat) and unbolt the latch. I am going to be so sore tomorrow...
I had to tweak my arm so weirdly to unscrew the nut on the spare wheel hold down, And it was rusted a bit~But I worked leverage with some channel locks.

Good news: There is some interesting stuff in the trunk, Including the missing "SPORT" and "SATELLITE" emblems for the drivers side. I still havent gone fully through everything though~It started snowing and I dont have a garage to work in.
The original floor liner is in there, But may need to be replaced.
The whole original jack and spare setup are in there.

Bad news:
I found where the rust on the car is hiding... Whole deck right under the rear windshield is pretty rotten, As well as the underside rear of the trunk lid and such.
Previous owner tried to fix with caulking and hand painted the underside of the deck with white house paint.
There was SO MUCH moisture trapped in the trunk, It didnt help that there were soaked cardboard boxes and such piled inside.
I was hoping to find the passenger side of the honeycomb grille and the rear "Mustache" trim piece, But they arent in there.

EXCELLENT, now you can take the trunk lock off and get a key made for it. If the weather permits and your going to be home most of the day, leave the trunk open and air it out after you get everything cleaned out.

get a bunch of ratchet extensions and unbolt the latch?

Haha, That would be like 6 feet of extensions.
I got it, But I had to crawl ALL THE WAY IN.

Weather is not so nice today.
Snow didnt last as the temp went up and it started raining.

Here is much more detailed reply from the DOL today, But still not what I want to hear...
"Good morning,

I finally have some answers regarding what happened with this vehicle.

After careful review, and more than a few conversations with other units we have discovered that Pick and Pull out of Lynnwood, WA reported this vehicle as destroyed, and then sold it to the dealership that you purchased it from. If you would like to dispute the fact that is was reported as destroyed, you will need to begin with Pick and Pull.

The process for reporting that information to the Department of Licensing is done a month behind. The wrecking yard sends in the months worth of reports for processing.

Coincidentally, we received the destroyed report the same day (01/02/2013) you were in an office transferring ownership into your name. The report was received and stamped that day, but not processed to the record, that day. That is not an error, that is processing documents on a first come first served in the order received basis.

If an error occurred, from what we have been able to determine, the dealer omitted that vital piece of information that the vehicle had been reported as destroyed.

If you would like to file a complaint against the dealership for not disclosing that the car was reported as destroyed you can use this form to begin that process.

http://www.dol.wa.gov/business/vehiclevesseldealer/dlrcomplaint.html

The Dealer Services Unit will be able to assist you with further steps in that regard.

Please let me know if we can be of further assistance, or if you would like a call to discuss this.

Thank you,"

Is it just me, Or did that basically sound like they again confirm I was owner of the vehicle at the time (Day?) Before the seller wrecker reported it?
Even if it was only a few hours after~I was legit legal owner under state law. (Though I have a bill of sale signed by the seller from mid Dec as well)

How can someone else wreck MY VEHICLE...

Also, The clean title arrived via Mail in February. Past the "Month" backlog they mention from my Purchase/Bill of sale in Dec 19th.

Hey, they way I see it, you can take that thing out and do burnouts and race around and if you get a ticket, go to court and produce the paperwork saying the car was destroyed on such and such date and then ask the judge how is it possible to perform such displays of vehicular muscularity with a car that does not exist.

I like the way you think Hemi Rebel . . . Now I know where the "Rebel" came from too ! ! ! LMAO . . .

He's got a good point ! ! ! ( Smile )

Finally getting the trunk open after a year is really good news. I have been reading this entire thread thinking a guy known as "The Cleaner" dropped this car off to be crushed with a body in the trunk and some under performing employee made the mistake of selling it to get a few extra bucks instead! LOL Your legal issues could have just been beginning! Good luck with the title issues.

Well played sir, well played :headbang:

LoL!

And you know what, Ever since I got the car~I've been joking about a body in the trunk...
I DID NOT want to be right about it though. Haha.

I've been a bit Ill lately. So not much has been getting done.
However,
Apparently I've made a big enough stink, That the DOL is now contacting Me to get things worked out.

Last phone message (From like a 5th or 6th DOL employee~STILL NOT THE DIRECTOR) claims they have "Good News" on the matter after "Doing more research" on their end.

But it also sounds like they made some changes,
WHICH I KEPT TELLING THEM NOT DO WITHOUT MY CONSENT.

I'll let you all know how things play out.

Keep making a stink about it . . . get in their faces . . . and you'll get this thing done the way you want is resolved . . .

DON'T GIVE UP NOW . . . you've got them coming to you, that could be a very good sign ! !

I'm trying not to get excited, only to be let down again... (I haven't heard back from them yet).
But~
I logged into the online portion of the DOL, And there is no mention of the car being reported destroyed anymore, And it looks mostly normal except the Tabs are showing expired. And it gives me the option to renew!!!

Side note:
It shows the tabs expired on 02/28/2013.
I purchased the tabs on 01/02/2013 and became official on state paperwork/title owner of the vehicle at that time.
So!
That just shows they initially branded the car on that date, 2 months afterwards...?

- JDB

What is the deal with the Department of Licensing?
They are so freaking confusing.

I called with a simple question to the main office about tabs and renewing.
Mind you I'm staring at the website for the DOL, And it's telling me I need to renew. Which is also what they said on the phone yesterday.
Now the woman I'm talking to is telling my my tabs are current and Don't expire until Feb 2014 and I don't need to do anything, And will mess things up if I try... I'm trying to explain all the nonsense I've been dealing with (I can tell she doesnt care) and also telling her I'm staring at a prompt online for my account that I need to renew and the woman says, "Well then just do whatever they said then"

Er... WHAT?
These people seriously have no idea what they are doing.

- JDB

It's looking like I'll have some very good news to share in the next couple days, Stay tuned.

- JDB

I was thinking about this the other day... does your local news have a "help people out when things get ridiculous" person? A consumer advocate or somesuch?

Maybe get them involved?

sjd

That is a great idea. Thanks for that.
Theres a few local news stations up here in the Seattle area.
