Joey pretty much ran me off from here.

So you guys dont think I'm the bad guy here???

.

no ,,,,not really joe....this dude had 6 posts a day all concerning things the we had already directed him on. he was either....

A. testing our knowledge....or

B. he really didnt know what the hell he was doing....

...im going with B :hello2:....he would ask for our help and opinions,,,then fight everyone on it!

...if you dont wanna hear the answer........THEN DONT ASK !

So you guys dont think I'm the bad guy here???

.

Hell no.
This guy had a higher thread count than the sheets on my bed about basically the same overall problem.

One of my first replies to him was met with what I thought was a "snarky" comment, but I let it pass.

He asks a hundred questions (or maybe the same question a hundred times) until he gets the answer he wants.

I build cars for a living. I do these forums for fun and to give back to the hobby. I'm not chasing all over the board to get all the details on someone's car to try and help them and have to repeat myself over and over, or to have any advice I might have not addressed because it wasn't deemed worthy.

If I gotta put that much work into it, I'm charging ya.

I don't think so. He was making the people trying to help him as exasperated with the problem as he was because he kept violating the cardinal rule of troubleshooting: you don't know anything is good until you test it. His constant "I know this is good because it's new, it's expensive, so and so says so, etc..." BS just drives people nuts.

As for rude or snarky comments... welcome to the internet. :)

I'd rather deal with the people that have the 'it's not my fault' attitude on the net instead of in person lol. And I'm with Rev with the "if I had to put that much work into it, I'm charging ya" deal. Used to do a lot of work on other people's cars and build engines and rear ends....but no more. It's just not worth the hassles. Now I build something that I know will work and if someone wants it, then fine. I don't have to deal with them asking all of their friends for advice and then giving it to me on how something should be built.

I didn't really see any what id call "rude" comments, But on a car site, if you don't like rude, or your that thin skinned, tune into QVC and leave the cars alone. If this was rude stuff, my life's being has been threatened before, NO Joey you didn't do anything.

I've learned just because something is new doesn't mean it's good. I've asked alot of questions on this forum and have gotten lots answers from people who are very knowledgeable and used that advice with great results. Point being, if you ask for help and are not willing to uncork your head from your ***, go somewhere else.

Seems like the whole thread created an easy way to remind people that they need to disconnect their emotions from troubleshooting to get anywhere.

People here are good at giving factual advice that can get you further down the field toward solving your problems. You do need to provide some useful information to anyone trying to help - and a bunch of emotions getting in the way doesn't help.

Machines don't care if you're pissed or not - frustrated or not - or feel like you tried 'everything' or not. Never once has throwing a tool solved a problem. It is pure logic, reason, process and observation. If you get all emotional about it - you do need to step away for awhile (I have many times) or correctly find another hobby. Maybe somethign like aromatherapy or meditation.

No;not really. Hell, there ought to be an award for putting up with us! I'm sure,at times you just want to go::angryfire::icon_axe::icon_fU::tool:

Oh;you guys can call me "retarded". In factory terms,it means "retired". And,I am. Retired, that is...

Bad guy? NO.

But, under the circumstances, John is totally frustrated to the point of selling his car. Again, extremely drastic measures . Everyone was trying to help him and there were many "sound, proposals" offered.
I think a "cooling down" period is needed.

Yeah, he got snarky, you're not the bad guy here. After 3 pages of help, he started calling people idiots, and "retarded". I just couldn't resist poking him with a stick when he started rattlin'! :poke:

I think its time for us to take a few deep breaths. If this guy does decide to sell the car I just wonder what mechanical issues he will inform the prospective buyers about. Probably none.

BIGMANJBMOPAR....I use sarcasm on the internet because it's too expensive to drive to someone's house and punch them in the face.

TPODWDOG.......sarcasm is a bodys natural defense against STUPID!:headbang:

Woof Woof Woof

Uh, maybe I should re-direct this whole mess...
If we keep on him hard, can one of us get the car cheap?
ONLY KIDDING!!! LoL!

I can understand his frustration, I have had cooling issues with my Charger for as long as I can remember. Thanks to this forum and specific help from ilm65 I was finally able to resolve it. (I hope to post some pics of it all soon)

Its hard to sift through all of the questions and people asking you to test 100 things but in general they are doing their best to help while not being able to see the car and get hands on to see what the real deal is. I would have liked to see some pics of his radiator and fan setup.

I will ad that the moment you type any name calling into a thread the help is OVER and the thread is totally lost after that.

Joeychgo - Keep up the good work. Being a forum admin is not easy and usually turns into a adult babysitting job. My hat is off to you sir.

-Steve

This is a fantastic forum and we all should work at being very kind to one another,My 2 cents

Joey, about the only thing you may have done differently is put the hand on the whole thread, to basically let the ones getting testy know they better play nice in the sandbox. But then again I personally can't see an issue with a discussion, even if it gets heated, as long as there is no profanity (basic forum rules followed). Most people on here are very collected and tend to withdraw from such nonsense anyway.

Since I haven't watched a TV show in maybe two years, I find this site as a good way to keep the gray matter from getting stale by getting involved with a problem from time to time. And if I can offer anything based on prior or current experience that will save a member grief, I am more than happy to do so.

You have a good thing going on here Joey and I thank you for all the hard work.

I had a couple people want to post ridiculously rude comments about me in one of my other threads so I defend my position. I report these incidents to Joey and he is going to call me the one being "snarky" I WILL NOT LOG ONTO THIS SITE AGAIN>.

See ya! He started it, calling people idiots and retards.
