Monroe's 70 GTX

Looks like a new car! Hope it gos together smooth for you. Good luck!

You mean , now comes the fun part. There's nothing like putting together a hot rod where all the parts are clean or restored. You can barely get your hands dirty. Proffesional wrench turners will attest to that.

You're so right. I just hope I remember where everything goes. :confused2:

G'day all. Just a few photos of the engine going back together and torsion bars going in. As you can see the workshop's a bit tight but at least it keeps everything together. More to come later. :VB toast:

Started to put the deadener in today. Goes down quite well, just need to take your time around the fiddly curves and bits to make sure no air pockets. Will also put it in the doors. I was thinking in the roof as well, has any one done that and is it worth doing. Would be interested in hearing some views. see ya soon. :hatwave:

I think another member "dangina" did something like that to their roof.

Hey monroegtx hows the GTX coming? I'm getting ready to start a 70 rr. I have been watching your progress.

Thanks for pictures and keeping us updated on this status! subscribed!

I cant see where it could hurt putting it on the roof, With this inside your car roof and all thru the inside, I wonder if you might have a better sound quality with the stereo system!

Went up to Darwin to visit my young bloke over the xmas break, so haven't done a great deal since. I put the engine together though. I'm not staying with the chrome covers, just put them on to keep the crap out, waiting for my new steel ones to arrive to bring back to original look. Should be here soon.

Thanks for comments on the gallery Tallhair. Hopefully will be doing more over the next few weeks so should have some more photos to share.

I've put some more deadener in but still not quite finished. I gotta go and buy another pack to finish off inside qtr panel, the wheel arch and a bit more on the firewall. Nearly there, won't be long and I'll put the ac/heater box and the dash back in.:woohoo:

70 gtx

i got to hand it to ya, this car is flat out sexyyy!!!!! LOVE IT!!!!!!!!

I think I've done with the deadener. Managed to get it in as far as I could inside the qtr panels and wheel arch. Wasn't easy at all. Could get it in there, but because of lack of arm space it was hard to roll it out and make sure that it stuck well. Was going to go over the wheel arch in the boot area but ran out of stuff. Might do that later, I can always get it from the back anyway. Was going to put in the ac/heater box today, but I wanted to make sure I had the vacuum linkages all set up right. Somehow I don't think I do, so I'm going to have another look at 'em over the weekend. No good if the ac or heater doors are opening and shutting the wrong way round. I'm gonna have a look over the net to see what I can find. Might have to start another thread if I can't work it out. :icon_scratch:
