My 1967 Belvedere Convertible Plans and Restoration (aka - Mad Scientist Build)

Lots of good info there.

I just looked at this and saw I lost :( however, its ok, I recently bought that sign at a discount center for pretty cheap :)

Don't forget the inside of your fenders and both front and rear fender splash shields are completely covered in a thick layer of undercoating too.... So its even heavier.

Glad to hear your pedal assembly was fubar...now you can get the right one...bad that they have so many screw ups on their end...I'd give them a D- so far.

Wow I just realized you are a a dick. It's subtle but the signs were there all along.

Not really a dick, just very sarcastic. I will always refer to myself as a "sarcastic ***"...its just my breed of humor I guess.

No pun intended KB "if you were joking". Just didn't come off as a very nice thing to say. Enjoy Fella's

To be honest not sure what part you guys are taking poorly...meant nothing bad towards Larry at all. I consider him a friend and we've spoken plenty of times both here and by phone...so no ill will meant. Sorry if it came off wrong.

Per your request bud, im going to weigh it in i think at 49 1/2 pounds! Lets see how close it is, sometimes this stuff can be tricky depending on just how much rust is in it lol. To be honest, im bad at guessing :)

Ive always been bad at guessing, but wow... I give you the congrats RR!!

Larry considers you a friend so that's all I need to hear. I consider Larry a friend also and was just looking out for him. Consider me butted out.

Hey KB - got all of them cleaned off already and they were included ! ! ! ( smile )

Hey KB - guess I might need to share "the rest of the story" with the group so they can hear about this . . . it's almost comical at this point ! ! !

Sorry Ron - I seemed to have missed your guess in the list - had to go back and find how I did that - so sorry ! ! !

I guess I forgot about the fact they don't know the whole parts story. I re-read what I wrote taking that into account and yea it sounds bad. Sorry for the confusion guys.

I am glad you care enough to say something Tallhair. No worries bud.

Saying your glad his pedal got fubared and saying it was alright because you already bought that sign "cheap" (kinda makes it sound like it was a cheap gift anyhow). I honestly didn't think you meant anything bad in what you said because it appears that you and 67 are buds "just didn't come off to well". No worries, it's all good.:VB toast:

Storytime . . . 101 . . . if anything could go wrong . . . it did . . . and has . . .

SORRY - LONG story . . . ( but true )

This has been a story that has developed over several months, and it had to do with an order from American Powertrain for part for my Belvedere - you'll remember that I posted some pictures of delivered parts a few posts back - well the parts were ordered and paid for on 7/29/2013. The parts were to all be shipped together and I'd have them in a week or two.

- two weeks later I called when no parts arrived - was told they're waiting to modify the tail stock on the transmission - okay, where is the trans ? ?
- ruh roh - the Tremec is in my garage, so I need to ship it to them - so it gets shipped
- they receive my transmission, say it'll take a week to modify it all the parts would be shipped together as one shipment
- two weeks go by no delivery - I call, the machinist has a family member fighting cancer and he's out a bunch - that is very much understood !
- two weeks turns into two months ( I'm not complaining, it's not holding up my progress ) and Jay has been very helpful
- tail stock gets completed and parts get boxed up, and shipped - YAY ! ! !
- week later, the day the package is suppose to show up - I take 1/2 vacation to meet UPS at my door - no delivery
- I call, turns out the tech found (2) trans pins, with my name on them on the bench - UPS shipment was recalled - ok, let's fix it properly
- transmission is re-built with missing parts, boxed up and shipped
- the day the package is suppose to show up - I take 1/2 vacation to meet UPS at my door - no delivery
- I call, turns out UPS destroyed the box, transmission fell out, and it gets returned to sender to re-package - I've seen the UPS stories !
- transmission is re-re-packaged and shipped - delivery should be in 2 days from Tennessee
- take 1/2 day off - packages show up ( 3 months after payment ) - I go through them, only half of the order is present . . . humm, not good.
- I call, something got crossed up - they ship the missing parts - they arrive in 2 days - guess what, parts still missing.
- was told they sold a pedal assembly, and was sent a picture of it - only got (2) pedals and a bracket.
- trying to figure out what happened with the pedal assembly that they offer - they don't offer it . . . ok, so I get a credit.
- pedals do not have a 1/2" ID to accept the pin/rod that supports/pivots the pedals - they do at the shop. FUBAR - wrong pedals !
- plans to re-send me the proper set of pedals with ( hopefully ) the pin/rod also included that was missing in the first shipment.
- my salseman ( Jay ) has been a great help, as we worked through all these mishaps . . . BTW we're at 4+ months now.

I told Jay that's it's taken SO LONG that I think he owes me a Wilwood Master Cylinder ! ! He agrees - waiting to see if it happens ! !

Yes, this is a true story, and I am NOT mad at American Powertrain - sometimes things happen, and this appears to be one of them ( I'm still wondering why they all have to happen at the same time and to me to boot ! ) Jay has been a great service and has credited me with shipping fees, he matched every price I found online, and he's been working with me to get this resolved - he even told me if you do another project, order the parts from him and he'll promise to get them to me in under 4 months next time - YES, he's quite the smart alec . . . guess that's why we get along so well.

Now, my comment to Jay, when I call him is will I have all my parts before next year ? ? ? He says he hopes so.

Additional notes:
By the way - there is a shifter that I bought that they're working on fixing a leaky gasket - before they'll ship it to me.
AND - I'll have to get my car back together and get them a drive shaft measurement before they'll custom build it.
So, I'll still have some outstanding business deals to finish up with them - and I'm sure they'll honor the invoice.

So now, I'm waiting on the correct pedals - and my order will be completed.

and that's . . . "the rest of the story " . . . and Yes, I will order parts from them again.

Tallhair & 747Mopar - it means a lot to me that you guys would stand up for me like you did - that's what makes this group so great. But KB has been in this from the beginning and has helped point me in the right direction ( and steer me away from things I don't want to repeat ). I was wondering what that was all about.

Believe me - I've been through a ton . . . signed divorce papers, forced to moved out of my house away from my two daghters, and terminated from my job -ALL- in the SAME WEEK. It's takes quite a bit to get me riled and now that I've shared the "rest of the story" - it might make more sense how it was a misunderstanding.

Thanks everyone - you're all a great group and I'm thankful to have you helping me through this journey ! ! !

Let's get yet another Hemi Mopar back on the road where it belongs . . . that's what I'm talking about ! ! ! ( SMILE )

That's mighty nice of you to be so patient with them but that's why you always try to plan ahead and order things well ahead of time (especially custom orders). I've talked to them a few times when checking into the T56, I'm up in the air now on what I'll eventually go with. Originally the 5 speeds were only rated for 500 ft lb which I'd likely exceed if ever running slicks but now they've upped it so maybe a 5 speed or since I already built this 727 "a gear vendors"??????????????????????

I'm really sorry to hear all that man. I'm glad you are doing OK and that you have and had someone to talk to to help you though it!

And here I thought those kinds of problems only happened to me lol. Well at least like you said the delays aren't holding up the project at all.

No matter how bad it really has been, to be honest all of the delays have worked to his benefit. With each additional screw up he gets more $$ back and (if they ship it) a free master cylinder. (hence what I meant before about glad it was fubar)

Though Larry, I don't remember you telling me all of that stuff happened in the same week! That had to be one bad week man...but on the positive side you got it all out of the way at once and have moved on. But as we have all said, we are here for ya and can help any way we can!

Speaking of, when do we get to see pictures of you shoe horning that hemi in there?

Tremec has a 600 ft lb unit now . . . I've got the 500 ft lb unit since I got a great deal on it . . . My trans has a bunch of miles on it already and it's still never been installed in any vehicles yet ! ! ! Go figure ! ! !

Thanks Ron - that's all behind me and I'm doing great ! ! Thanks for asking and your concern.

The things that don't kill us only make us stronger ! ! ! I figure I might be able to compete with Hercules now ? ? ?

Thanks KB - that was a good year, got rid of a job that was not me, and the wife that definitely was not for me all at the same time ! ! !

I'm much better off - even my older brother said it was good to have his "brother" back ! ! !

And I'm looking for the BF Shoe Horn as we speak ! ! ! ( grin )
