my 70 barn find

I don't usually read these high dollar builds, just something I'll never see in my lifetime, but I just read yours from start to finish just now, at first, because I wanted to see if you were still going to be married at the end :icon_axe:, then you dropped the "C" bombshell, I shared your story with my wife, your in our prayers, God be with you, I pray you win the fight :angel7:. A 70 Plymouth has always been in my top 5 favorites, that also kinda helped me stay glued to your build, when you beat your setback (not if) I hope you drive the snot out of this car daily and don't trailer a show queen! :getwell: Good luck!!

thank you old-skool, if you remember on one of the post i was in denial, i couldnt figure out what you meant by the c bomb at first...lol...if you see this thing on a trailer something broke or someone stole it. i already got money set aside for some more rear tires...lol...thanks again, usarr

Can't even say how jealous I am of your suspension USA lol, she's sitting MEAN and the wheel/tire combo looks awesome!!! Hope you've been feeling well through the treatments, if you're kicking as much @ss on them as you are on the 'bird, you'll be in great shape in no time!
:eek:ccasion14:

wow, what great theropy today, my buddy got the trans cross-member all welded up. he made a templet and knows someone with a water-jet and cut the metal out and welded it up. it came out pretty nice i think. got the new wheels and tires on, man the EVIL SCOWL is sitting low. we got the hole punched and got the wiring harness to the motor hooked up. then i ran out of gas. here some pics of the progress....one step closer...:beavisnbutthead:

USARoadRunner . . . what a COOL name for your car . . . "Evil Scowl" . . . I wish I could come up with something like that, I just call my car the Belvedere . . .

Or, the "Khan"-vertible . . . guess I'll just have to run with that one ! . . . ( smile ) . . .

It sure doesn't quite measure up to your name though . . .

Could you share a shot of the rear wheel on the RR? If i'm correct, do you have a lot of room between the tire and the wheel housing/fender? Or is it optical?

this is only i shot of it so far, but after installing you could fit a 10" with a 285 size tire. mine is a 9.5" wide with a 275 with 5.75" backspacing. when i smoke these tires off i might go with a 285 next time. :beavisnbutthead:

Sorry to hear that you have to fight it again. From a survivor 5 years clean, I know it can be done. Praying for you. May I suggest something If I may be so bold. Cut out all processed foods including sugar. I know it sounds ludicrous, But I know a gentleman who beat cancer by literally going Vegan. Only Fruits and Veggies. Just a thought. I'm working my way in that direction. I don't eat any processed meats etc, I don't drink any Soda pop either. Slowly changing my diet, and feeling more youthful every day. Just a thought.

Sucks to hear about the rough week but glad you're feeling a lot better today

Keep doing what you're doing and you'll make those shows

I don't think it's as much the Veggie approach as it is the getting away from CONTAMINATED meats. Most of our store bought food is just plain poison whether it's through the fertilizers and bug sprays or the steroids and antibiotics being used. I believe we are meant to eat it all (we have canines for a reason) but buying from local farmers is a good alternative and I know the beef we buy is allot better. Antioxidants is the main thing I keep hearing. Best of luck USA.

Do the RR's have different wheel wells? I finally got my tires on (285's) and think I could stuff 305's in there.

Hey USA, we got some prayers coming to you from Idaho..
I second the Idaho Prayers!! just picked up a 1970 plymouth satellite myself! I am going superbird clone. I someday want a 70 roadrunner as well, the one main thing for me when it comes to the roadrunner is it MUST have an airgrabber. BEST HOOD EVER!

thanks 747, someone told me that 295 was probably the biggest you could put in there without moving the leafs in.

got down to the shop today and fab up the brackets for the clutch and brake and the go fast pedal. this custom fab work dosent go fast. my buddy did all the welding. we came up with this bracket style and plug welded it so there is no bolts coming through the fire wall. i think it came out pretty good. as goon would say those pedals are fer racing...lol. the master cylinders that are under dash by i am going to have my buddy build this custom dash. if turns out the way we want it. you will be able to get to the master cylinders no problem. also got the motor all wired up and routed through the fire wall. all the wires are tucked and hidden for the most part. got a whole brand new wire harness for the whole car also, so it will be all new. got me some LED tail lights and gonna order the LED parking lights. thats all for now. will keep ya posted. usarr :beavisnbutthead:

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, look at that big honk'n 6 speed......................I'm so jealous. Did you get LED bulbs? The reason I ask is because I was reading up on lighting and they advise not to use LED bulbs in the old tail light assemblies. Reason being is because your old bulbs projected light almost 360 degrees lighting up the whole assembly where the LED's project straight out and only light the area directly in front of them resulting in a smaller less visible area being lit up. Just sharing what I've read. Your car is going to be one wicked, fun beast to drive.

LED Lights . . .

That's a very good point too 747 Mopar . . . but, it would depend on the "type" of LED lights that you get too . . .

LED can be very directional - as is the case with ones like these . . .

directionalled.jpg

Or they can be "mostly" directional, like these, but shed some light to the sides ( notice the shape difference from above )

lessdirectional.jpg

Or they can be set up, like these, to assist with shedding light in many directions . . .

lotsalight.jpg

Here's a pic of some LEDs that I have in the ShoeBox . . . No doubt that you can tell that I'm stopping . . . ( or backing up )

verybrightleds.jpg

NOTE: If you do get LED bulbs for your car, then you may find out that your flashers no longer work - that's because the LED draw far less amps and don't allow the element in the flasher to heat up and disconnect.

SOLUTION: Buy an electronic flasher unit, they are made for LED bulbs and work with the LEDs and don't depend on amp draw and heat to cause the flash.

ALSO: Electronic flashers are directional, they must be hooked up properly to work. When I got mine, it did not work, called the company and they wanted to sell me $5.00 polarity swapping plug - All I did was pull the pins from the plug, and reverse them - everything worked great !
