Waking up the beast

Well, just got back from the track. Put the new wheels on the back. Did my burnout. Staged,and..................... Launched the car then it hit the rev limiter instantly. Put it in second and started moving. Shifted to third and that was fine. Came around into the pits and put it into first and it moved but barely. Secon, third and reverse all work, but first is out. Time for some upgrades.

:sFun_doh2:

how many races you have left, Bob? got a shop or new trans lined up yet??

Tough luchk, bob. But look at the bright side - that rev limiter saved your motor. Are you thinking of doing the trans yourself or having a shop do it?

I'll be racing into October. Plenty of time left.

No, I won't be doing this myself. I need professional help. (with the trans too)

Anyone close to Jersey with a bolt in sprag laying around?

Was going to say the sprag too a dump, my car did the same thing. Hopefully the case is still usable.

I'm sure the case is bad. I have a spare in storage

weak link,

It seem when your racing you can easily find them, pretty damn quickly,
I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did, with a stock sprag/overrunning clutch...

Usually they break/blow after doing a burnout & the car suddenly bites hard,
especially running slicks or drag radials, or using a manual valve body driving & downshifting,
that doesn't have rear band apply, the sprag/overrunning clutch will spin out of control,
allegedly to like 10k-12k rpm & grenade/boom...

I've seen it a few time now...

good luck, have fun

I've one. Will you be at LVD this weekend? As a spectator, I know the car is broken.
Let me know and I'll bring it.

Not sure if that's the problem. Thanks anyway.
I'm opening the case up today at some point. Hopefully its not too bad.

I just wanted to thank SUPERSTOCKRACER for the boxes of parts needed to fix my trans in time for the race today. The sprag exploded, clutches were worn and front planets shakey at best. He had everything I needed.

Is SSR your private parts sponsor/supplier ?,
Hell you should put his name or his companies name "plastered on the side of the car" for his help/parts sponsorship...LOL...
It must be really nice having someone, with everything you seem to always need,
around/so close & willing to help especially...

good luck & have fun at the races

Sponsor would be great, but supplier is good too. I thanked him yesterday by taking him out in the finals.
I did however, in doing so, put him in sole position of first place by taking out the guy he was tied with the round before.
So, I think that I need to be thanked.:)

Nice pic.
Do you have frame connectors installed?

Car looks great, much more balanced too with those frame connectors. One speed secret I heard years ago from an old MOPAR guy... paint those new wheels black - shiny stuff slows a MOPAR down by at least 1/10th.
