Waking up the beast

Car looks great, much more balanced too with those frame connectors. One speed secret I heard years ago from an old MOPAR guy... paint those new wheels black - shiny stuff slows a MOPAR down by at least 1/10th.

Probably powder coat them over the winter. Either black or body color. Should pick up 2 tenths.

Looks like twisting on the launch.
Stiffen the right rear and/or roll bar time...
Looking good with the wheels and hood- like a race car.

Changed my plugs today. here is #5

So, I'm all buttoned up. Carbs set, new plugs, timing. Going to race at English town on Saturday. Interested to see what she runs on 8 cylinders. I also did a compression check to make sure all was well.

The short answer is 11.88 @ 114.94. Now the long.
I did three time shots and after the first 11.99 , I went .88 ,.94, .92 , .89. I had three good lights in a row. .007 ,.013, .003. Then in the second round I wanted to kick myself. I hate losing to new Chargers. He dialed 11.64 and ran an 11.77 after fiddling with his laptop for a half hour in the staging lanes. His rt was .117. I had a -.003 light! Hate when I do that.
After jetting up and changin to a colder plug, my plugs are still reading lean. I really need to get a wideband for the car. I really hate stabbing at it especially with the dual quads.

The big red eyed monster... sucks,
sounds like you had fun & few passes at-least

All loaded up and ready to hit the track tomorrow for another race with Nendra. Changed plugs again and may take the 2" spacers off the carbs. we'll see what happens.

Well, that didn't go well yesterday. Did my burnout, launched, 1st gear , 2nd gear , 3rd gear ok. At 1000 ft. the car stops pulling. get off the track and no gears. TRANS AGAIN! Get towed to the pits and find a little fine glitter on the dipstick. Going outside in the rain to pull the trans now.

Can't say I envy you but I've been there myself before. Tranny removal on your back sucks. Rain makes it that much worse.
But at least it's only the trans and nothing more.
I'm sure you'll let us know what went wrong.
I suspect all the extra power from the new plugs...LOL

I'm getting too old to pull trannys on my back. Can you find a lift to use?? Or get the kid to pull it

I'm with Hemi-It is,
I hate being on my back, on the ground anymore,
let alone in the rain outside in the driveway...

that's a nice tranny jack Al !!

Good luck Bobtile

And the winner this time is..............
Torque Converter.
Everything else in the trans looked great. Especially with all that glitter on it. Made the dipstick really "pop" in the sunlight!

So does your tranny guy have one for you or are you going to SSR Speed Shop for a new one?
Just an innocent ? as I know he's got a lot of parts floating around.
If not I recommend Lenny at Ultimate Converter Concepts.
Tell him I sent you if you decide to call him.

Still shopping for the converter. I think I ran SSR. Out of parts:). Just ordered a low band apply valve body and billet rear servo while its apart.

What drum ,sprag and & planets are you using??

The trans will not fit under the car while on the jack.Have to slide the trans under and then lift onto the jack.
