Waking up the beast

Do you have enough motor/top end to run the 8" converter ??,
hope it won't be slipping, you giving up too much in 3rd gear,
but you'll also be in 2nd & 3rd gear much quicker now too "probably",
with a higher launch RPM {?}, could/should "probably" 60ft better...
what's the stall speed/flash RPM ??
who's brand & style of converter ??
refresh my memory are you running slicks or drag radials still ??

just curious mostly

Good luck either way, I hope it works for ya...

Don't think I have enough top end, but we'll all find out together. This is a stop-gap measure for now. A 9.5" is on the way. Its an ATI converter. I was told it stalled at 5000 behind a 500" Valiant. For 100 bucks, we'll see what happens. I am still running radials.

for $100 bucks it won't hurt to try it out...

good luck

Wasn't able to try the converter out yesterday because of the rain. I'm going to head out to Island and test it out today. If the 8" is too much, I have a 9.5" on the way. We'll see what happens

Who wants an 8" converter?

This is how we learn.

At least you learned cheaply. I had one 6 times that amount that didn't work with my setup.
I'll NEVER buy a used converter again.
Will you be at LVD for the Mopar race this coming Saturday?

I LMFAO, sorry
OK now you need to elaborate...

Before the converter broke, my 60 ft times were in the 1.65 range with 11.8"s @ 114+. I was really able to feel the converter. With this one, I tried leaving the same as the old one which was 1500 rpm. that resulted in a "bog" when I left. It was slow to get up to shift point in first gear. Second and high gear felt ok but went through the traps at 6400 when I was at 6000 before. The result was 1.96 60ft with a 12.30@ 112. The next pass I left at 2500 and was just sluggish until 2nd gear. It went 12.6@111 with a 1.93 60 ft.

That sucks.
If I get my converter in time, I'll probably go.

definitely not the converter for your combo....

did you try any higher RPM launces like 4000+ RPM, just for chits & giggles ??
{like an 8" converter like that is usually intended for}

The 8" in my last car - small block 65 Valiant drag car - would not push until over 3400 and stalled at 5200. I think that 8" converter you got is broken....
