What did you do to your Mopar today?

Yeah. I guess I do, but I want to cross my T's and dot my I's before I tear mine housing apart. No stone unturned, no backlash unchecked so to speak.

Driving home from Carlisle, I lost everything electrical except the ignition. So, I hoped for the best and kept driving. I got home, put it in the garage, and kind of forgot about it as we went on vacation the next weekend. My wife reminded me that a local car show I enjoy was today. So, yesterday I finally opened the hood and found the alternator output cable had somehow vibrated itself around and shorted to the case and burned up the protective boot. Of course it's a one-wire alternator in a Mopar housing and I have an American Autowire harness that only has provision for a one-wire alternator. I pulled the alternator out of storage that I had taken off the car. Then I dug around the attic and found the engine harness that had come off the car and a voltage regulator. I unwrapped the harness and pulled out the ignition run/alternator field portion. I hooked the ignition run wire that I pulled out of the bulkhead disconnect to the HEI coil+, attached the voltage regulator to the inner fender and plugged the connector into that, and hooked the blue and green leads to the alternator field terminals. That left one blue ignition wire coming off the factory splice which I taped off. So, now I have the wiring available to run a one-wire or conventional Mopar alternator.

Today, I decided to neaten things up and made a charging harness with only what I need and no extra leads that need to be taped off.

If our trucks count, I put new Bilstein's on my Puller, rotated the tires, and lubed the entire chassis...

My starter started hanging up when I released the key, so it was time for a new mini starter. I had to remove the adapter and install the wiring before I bolted it in. I also had to relocate the wiring to lengthen it a bit. Works great.

While the starter was out I decided to deal with some pesky exhaust leaks. I know the welding job the P/O did at the flanges was not the best, but I also found the gaskets were leaking. A little muffler cement and some new gaskets and it should be good.
