I bought my first Mopar 50 years ago for $50 and it was a 51 Desoto with a 250 cubic inch flathead. That motor is still in my 48 Plymouth coupe that I bought 48 years ago and that car towed my Chrysler powered Willys to many races which won more than 60 trophies. I still have the trophies and the Willys as I raced it. Last time down the track was nov. 1968. I still have the tow bar also.

My first was a 62 Dart 330. Had a 318, but later I put a 426 4 speed in it. It was gone when I got back from the Army. I now own a 62 440.

My first car was a 66 Belvedere and when I got drafted in 70 and then got shipped over seas, I had to sell it. Never saw it again and heard the new owner nailed a bridge abutment and totaled it out. I bought another 66 over 25 years ago and still have it.

My first Mopar was a 1973 Road Runner, with a 340, 727 Slap Stik and 3.55 Sure Grip. Built with A/C and rear window defogger, center console and light group. My sister bought the car in 1979 because her boyfriend at the time was in to hot rods. She drove it for two years and then I bought it from her in 1981 for $400.

I drove that car through high school. It was the second coolest car in school. The coolest car was a 1965 Mustang that had been completely rebuilt and was really fast and super well done. I was good friends with the kid who owned the car, and actually learned a lot from him too.

The Road Runner was my only car through college too, and I met my future wife through that car - she blew her engine in her car and I graciously offered to pick her up to take her to school.

In 1992 I finished a rebuild/restoration of the car. I still (sort of) have that car. When my son turned 16, I gave him that car as his first car, so now two generations have had that same car as their first car. I served me well, and now is serving him well too. It is a daily driver car but still works great.

Here is a recent picture of the car with my son in it.

This picture was taken at a car show in 1996 with me and my son sitting on his future car...

The first one I owned was a 69 sport satellite with manual tilt seat, 383 with factory holley
I was young and stupid and totaled it
next was a 69 satellite 318 and then in 1974 I bought a 73 satellite sebring plus with a 400
and my youngest daughter smashed it up around 1995
it was in dry storage till I brought it home last year now to fix and drive it again

When I discharged from the Air Force in '69 I bought a pristine, low mileage '65 Plymouth Belvedere 2dr post that had a /6 and 3spd for $700. I saved my money and bought a 383 and Torqueflite out of an almost new wrecked Super Bee for $400. It was a pretty sweet ride that I used to commute to work during the week and bracket race on Sundays. I wish that I had good pictures of it.

My first mopar was a 1964 Polara 500, 383, torque flight. Black on black, and loaded with chrome.
A neighbor down the road from me was using it to take tools and such, back and forth, to his garden. Bought it from him for $150.00. Got it home, cleaned it up and man, the car was almost in perfect shape. The car had just over a hundred thousand on it so the first thing that went was the oil pump. A friend of mine just blew the bottom end out of a 440 in his '70 Super Bee. He sold me the whole top end. I installed the heads, cam, ext. Found a set of headers and found a real nice set of Cragar SS. Man that car would run. A year later the same friend sold me a 456 Dana rear for $150. Can't find them for that anymore. I ran the car at US 30 in York Pa. Ran it at 75 and 80. It would run mid 13's all day long. And I drove it to work everyday.
Sold it to a guy that wouldn't stop bugging me to sell it. He ragged it out, then sold it to another guy who took out a pole with it. Last time I saw it, some good ole boys had it in an ally working on it. I stopped to see if I was my old car and it was. Shouldn't have stopped!

My parent's light blue 49 Chrysler 2 door coupe, which I bought from them. I learned to drive in that car driving around the backyard when I was 14. Unfortunately it is long gone.Chrysler49NYcoupe19.jpg

My first Mopar was a 1969 Plymouth Satellite sedan, bronze in color, 318 with an AT. If it was any plainer it could have been a government car. It was my uncle's commuter car and I bought it from him in 1978 for the grand sum of $300. Ran well, very solid and comfortable. Longest trip in it was from SF to LA. I later sold it to a co-worker who was a single mom. Three Sport Satellites since then.

68 Charger R/T 1974 for $300 @ 15 y/o, sold it 1984-85ish {IIRC} to my cousin Joe & he wrecked it...
I had several different engine combos in it, from bone stock to Roots Blown...
I drag raced it every Wed./Thurs. Fremont, Sacramento or Sears Point & some week end races, here & there & drove it on cruise nights pretty much every week end, when I was in town, for quite a few years... I've had about 50 or so other Mopars since then, 12 1968-70 Chargers & I'm on my 13th 1968-70 RR currently, I've had various other models over the years, but 1968-70 Chargers & RR's were my favorite MOPAR's...

I might be able to say in 1968 Sport Satellite 383 4 speed, that was my moms "new car", I got the car after High School, I drove it for probably about years too, after 1977 so about tell 1987-88ish...

Have owned it since 1975

Graduated high school in June 1975 and 2 weeks later bought my 1971 Roadrunner that I still own today. I have owned 2 68 chargers, 65 Gran sport,
77 Corvette, 87 Trans Am GTA, 69 GTO but only 1 is still there. Although I have a 71 GTX 440-6, 71 Superbee and a 73 400- 4sp- Sunroof charger to go along with my roadrunner today.Roadrunner Engine.jpgroadrunner D.side.jpgroadrunner front.jpg

1961 Chrysler Windsor 4DR. It had a 413 Cross Ram in it with the Juke Box/Push Button 727 Transmission. Bought it off the First Sergeant in 1971 and got discharged in 1972. The motor blue up as I was driving through Saluda NC on my way home to Chi Town. Sold it for the tow and a plane ticket plus shipping for all my junk. I will never forget the fine hospitality that the tow truck drivers family showed me on that day. Still to this day I wish I had been able to keep it as they are rather rare in that set up...cr8crshr/Tuck

It was a rather rare car being a Black with White Canopy top and interior 400 4 speed. It left the factory on 15x7 Rallye's and G 60 -15 Good Year Polyglas tires.
In all the years I have never seen another 4 speed in Black. I knew of a FK5 back then bought from the same dealer ship and then years later a parts car in light green.
I owned that Black car 5 times in my life even as a Road Runner clone the 5th time.

I recently bought a triple Black auto car that just got it's first repaint last week.
I am going to relive my first car through this one by changing the top to a White Canopy and the interior to White.

My first MoPar was a '69 Charger 383 & auto. That was a fast car for its time. I eventually totally restored it over a 3 year period. Funny thing is I still have a box of parts leftover....never did figure out why they were leftovers :eusa_think::grin: The best part is that I am still left with a bunch of happy memories :headbang:

IMG_20140506_104531213_HDR.jpgI had a 1968 sport fury, green, auto, buckets, fast top, 318. My brother in-law sold ti to me for $100.then a 1971 roadrunner, 383, 4 speed,tor-red,buckets , ralleyes. And now a 1973 roadrunner,b5 blue , 340, 4 speed, buckets , ralleyes.

1960 Desoto Fireflite!
1969, and I still have the Title and Bill of sale from when I bought it for $75.00! The car is long gone, though.

I bought a 64 Chrysler Newport convertible w/361/727 when I got back from Vietnam in 68. Beat the hell out of it, moved twice with it. Let the top down fill it up furniture and all. Wish I still had it. Then I bought a 68 RR off the back lot of a local used car lot with a bad engine, found a 440 for it. Another one I should have kept. There has been others since then but those two I would like a do over.

First Mopar? That would be my 1970 road runner, bought in the summer of 1977. I still have most of it. Don't have the original engine, or transmission, or rear end, or a piece of the driveshaft that was cut when it was shortened for the Dana. I didn't think I'd miss those parts back in the 70's. :)

My first Mopar, (69 440 GTX) purchased new by me. It survived and is located about an hour from me.
