    A idle solenoid should not retract until the ignition is shut off. If the engine is warmed up the choke fast idle cam should be fully released to allow the curb idle screw/solenoid to control the curb idle speed. Is all this occurring when the engine is fully warmed? Mike

    Dashpot

    The dashpot is a "shock absorber" for the throttle closing. It slows closing to prevent stalling and (I think for emissions). If you are referring to the idle solenoid, that is designed to increase idle rpm to carry the extra load of the A/C compressor. Mike
